Living in Bequia - doctor's visit

Well, after snorkeling, Alicia was complaining about an ear blockage. In short, her ear was blocked and she could not get it unblocked, and therefore could not hear out of that ear. She tried and tried to release whatever was the problem, but got no relief.  That was on a Friday. She decided she would go the pharmacy on Saturday and buy something to dissolve ear wax. No luck! Pharmacy is closed on Saturdays because the pharmacist is Seventh Day Adventist. So back to the pharmacy on Sunday and get some was dissolver. By Monday, still no relief. Back to the pharmcy to consult with the pharmacist (chemist). His advice ...

"Best to go see the doctor" up the street across from the police station. Here is the doctor's office.

It worked out very well. The doctor is Sri Lanken and  has relatives living in Framingham and recently took his kids to Disneyland. Better yet, he was able to clear Alicia's ears of all the wax that was in them. He noted a small infection in the blocked ear, so gave her an ear drop prescription, to be filled by the pharmascist. This was around noon on Monday.

Well the pharmacist was not there, but we were told that he would be coming back at 6PM, he would fill it then. So back I went ... but, sorry, he didn't make it over from StV, so it will have to be tomorrow ... at 6:00pm.

So Tuesday evening we called the shop and were told that the pharmacist was real busy filling orders (duh!) and could we pick it up the next day (48 hours after the script was written) -- finally got it Wednesday morning. Good news is that the infection never really showed any symptoms so Alicia was fine.

Later, we talked with people from Norway who live here most of the year, and the deal is do not get sick on the island. If you do get sick, you will go to Trinidad, Barbados or, if REALLY sick, the US.

Alicia is just glad she didn't need a pain killer.
