Floating the Big Hole

We had been fishing the upper section of the Big Hole River in Montana and having fun, but it was still hot. In discussing options with the fly shop, they suggested that an early AM start to a float trip might be the ticket. It would avoid the heat of the day and time our fishing to a better chance of catching.

So the plan was made: we met up with our guide, Chris, at 5:00AM (!!)  okie dokie.

Here are some of the shots from that trip -- (double click on any one to open in large format)

What it looked like when we arrived

Gearing up in the cold -- 47F - note down parkas

Setting out at dawn

First good size "picture fish"... a nice brown trout ...

Alicia follows with a "Big one" - about 20"

Kevin surges past Alicia with big fish

 Getting cocky

It is a pleasant way to fish

Celebrating with a Coors -- (still not as good as "good beer")
